Championship: End of Day 4 / Final Table Preview

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship NLH

Andy Hwang
Chip Leader

Andy Hwang (Sugar Land, TX) ended Day 4 where he began it, with the chip lead at the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open.  He's now 1 of 6 players still in the running for the $730,053 top prize.

"Overall it was a good day," said Hwang who finished with 9.55 million. "I wish I hadn't blown 3 million in the last five minutes, but I feel good."

Hwang shipped a double-up to James Anderson (Wooster, OH) when he bluffed all in with 3♠ 6♠ against Anderson's A♣ A which vaulted Anderson to 7.83 million and second overall.

Also in the mix for the big money is WPT title holder Matt Salsberg (Studio City, CA) who returns as the short stack with 1.920 million.  The other remaining players are Jeremy Druckman (Portland, OR), Matt Haugen (Chicago, IL) and Mike Gogliormella (Yonkers, NY) who are third, fourth and fifth in chips respectively.

"I'm going to keep doing the same thing," said the 22-year old Druckman. "Stay focused, take things slowly and stay patient."

The day began with 28 players, but many of the big names failed to reach the final table.  Three-time Borgata trophy winner Chris Reslock (26th) and last woman standing Jamie Kerstetter (22nd) were knocked out early in the day.

Midway through the session, Russell Crane, the 2011 Borgata Spring Poker Open Champion, ran into the pocket kings of Hwang to end his day in 16th place. Play was stopped when Cuong Phung, the June 2012 Borgata Leaderboard winner, busted in 7th place after losing a coin flip with pocket 10s to Matt Haugen's AK.

Play resumes 1 pm Friday in the Event Center. The average remaining stack is 5.2 million (52 bb) with blinds continuing at 50k/100k/10k ante.
