Ting Ho (Las Vegas, NV) outlasted a field of 286 to win her first-ever tournament at Borgata, bagging $28,294 for first place and the beautiful Borgata trophy. Elish Patel (Gainesville, FL) was the runner-up, claiming $16,812.
The final table of six included Roland Israelashvili (Forest Hills, NY) who has one Borgata Poker Open title among his million-plus dollars in lifetime tournament earnings. He finished 6th for $5,826.
Day one saw 286 entries, generating total buy-ins of $114,400. The final 30 got paid and they reached the money shortly after returning from dinner.
WSOP National Champion Ryan Eriquezzo (Danbury, CT) was among the first to get paid. He busted out in 29th place for $666. Two-time WPT final tableist Dan Buzgon (Marlton, NJ) went out 23rd ($832). WSOP bracelet holder Mike 'Little Man' Sica finished 11th for $1,387.
Ting Ho was in Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma with her boyfriend and "favorite poker player," Rex Clinkscales. Rex is the current point leader on the WSOP Circuit and they were headed for Tunica, MS, to play in another Circuit event.
That is until Allen 'Chainsaw' Kessler talked them into coming to Borgata. Ting Ho was stunned by how cold it was when they arrived yesterday, but she was on fire here in the tournament.
She travels with her medical alert service dog, Bella, who appears to enjoy getting in on the action. Of her first trip to Borgata, Ho said, "I love it. I love the room, I love the venue." And she's loving that trophy. Clinkscales says they're both going to play the $1,500 Mix-Max NLH event which starts in less than an hour.
