Event 15: Hinds brings the Heat

Miguel Borrero (Jersey City, NJ) makes it 2700 to go from mid position. John Allan Hinds (Greenville, NC) calls from late position, as does James Anderson (Wooster, OH) from the small blind.
Flop falls Q♦K♣6♣. Anderson and Borrero check. Hinds thinks it over for a bit before dropping down 3800 into the middle. Anderson mucks, then Borrero turns his 7♦7♠ face up and mucks it as well. Hinds rakes in the pot and is sitting on around 34K.

This is the second Omaha event of the series; Mike Linster (Island Park, NY) won the PLO Big Stack (Event 4) last weekend.
It'll be interesting to see if Linster, who has two trophies this series, will make it an Omaha double. He's currently in the $1,500 Mix-Match (Event 14 with 10 players left) and won't even think about registering for Omaha until he's finished making a run at his third trophy.
Players start with 12k in chips, levels are 30 minutes long and registration will stay open for 6 levels or until ~6:30 pm.

Attention Poker Players: Not all Blonde Poker Players Look Alike!
The next time you see a blonde woman playing poker, please don't assume it's Jamie Kerstetter (Monroe Twp., NJ) or Christine Brewer (Port Monmouth, NJ). They're not the same player.
"Blonde girl who plays poker? Must be Christine," says Kerstetter, who seated on Brewer's left.
And Brewer is constantly mistaken as Kerstetter, so today's table draw should make life easier in keeping the mistakes to a minimum.
Both women are Borgata regulars with good poker resumes.
Brewer is fresh off a final table in the Borgata December Deep stack event that had her taking home nearly $5,000, while Kerstetter finished 13th in the same event for nearly $4,000. (Oh by the way, a third woman Cathy Dever (Ephrata, PA) was 6th for $18,000).
Kerstetter is the more veteran and accomplished of the two blondes. She has 16 career Borgata cashes and nearly $300,000 in career earnings.

Tyler shoved and after giving it some thought, Baruch called, showing KQ for top pair.

The last two changed nothing and Tyler doubled up.
Baruch was left short and got his chips in holding JT on a Ten-hi flop. His opponent had QT to out-kick him and Baruch was busted (12th place).

After 22 hours Event 13 is in the books and your Champion is an aspiring writer from Long Island, NY named James Kirschenheuter. James outlasted a field of 1,264 entries and beat Steven Rodriguez (Staten Island) heads up.
A hand James will never forget and was key to his victory was when his favorite hand, J-7 of spades flushed out the river to beat his opponent's 8-6 straight. That hand brought James amongst the chip leaders and he never looked back. In fact, he estimates his total knock-outs at 20. He took out 10 with 5 tables to go and several at the FT.

After 22 hours Event 13 is in the books and your Champion is an aspiring writer from Long Island, NY named James Kirschenheuter. James outlasted a field of 1,264 entries and beat Steven Rodriguez (Staten Island) heads up.
A hand James will never forget and was key to his victory was when his favorite hand, J-7 of spades flushed out the river to beat his opponent's 8-6 straight. That hand brought James amongst the chip leaders and he never looked back. In fact, he estimates his total knock-outs at 20. He took out 10 with 5 tables to go and several at the FT.

Stu Baker knocks out Pat Flaherty in 33rd Place after winning a flip.
Stu's JJ improves against AK on a board of 5-6-7-Q-J
Both players were all in pre. Stu is now at 3.2 million.
Pat departed saying, "If I win that I have close to 3 million." He swung for the fences and just came up short.
Pat puts $1,227 into his pocket for his 33rd Place finish at Borgata.
Meanwhile, Cody Custer is the other big stack in the room with 2.6 million.

Mike Borovetz chatted with me for a bit and explained how he lost most of his chips in 4 hands:
1 - King high straight < Ace high straight
2 - AK < 99; All-In pre-flop. 99 holds.
3 - Flush draw and top pair on flop, loses by river
4 - Raise pre-flop with K10, gets 1 caller. Flop is 10 high. Borovetz' opponent check calls his bet. Turn is a J. His opponent checks again. Borovetz bets, and gets check-raised. By the river the cards are turned face up and his opponent shows KJ, and scoops the pot after catching his 3 outer/ top pair on the river.
Borovetz is now down to just 76,075...but still has plenty of chips left to contend with when play resumes tomorrow at 500/1K blinds, 100 ante.

Chris Yakuboff (Long Island, NY) enjoys some dessert but more importantly needs the caffeine to stay awake.
